About

My name is Lindsay Kay Parkinson, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Art Therapist, and Artist. My work is dedicated to creating trusting relationships and space for you to be yourself, knowing you can show up without fear of judgment. I will assist you in a process of self-discovery and growth that will help you feel better, more focused on your path and allow for increased self-compassion and acceptance. My approach Traditional talk therapy combined with art therapy is the primary focus of my work, using Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Problem-Solution Focused, and Family Systems theories. Ask about my 12-week Mindful Self Compassion series that combines Art Directives with aspects of your life that need more care and compassion! My focus I truly enjoy working with adolescents and transitional-aged youth (18 - 25) as well as individual adults. Young adulthood is difficult to navigate, especially these days and I believe those early experiences need extra care and attention. Depression & Anxiety are some of the most common reasons for seeking therapy. Regardless of diagnosis, symptoms may consist of overwhelming feelings of sadness or nervousness, apathy, sleep & diet changes, feeling 'out of sync' with yourself, questioning life transitions, relationships, or career paths. Personal losses can cause or trigger depressive episodes, including the loss of a loved one or pet. Working with a wide range of mood disorders, ADHD, and trauma, I focus on facilitating awareness and insight in order to create a new story of strength and resilience, gaining perspective on symptoms, root causes, and/or managing diagnosis. My communication style I create a light atmosphere, especially at first, in order to create a comfortable and safe emotional space to talk about our most vulnerable feelings. If my clients are interested in Art Therapy, I start out with playful Art Directives that connect to a younger side of themselves, reducing anxiety.
