Hi, My name is Linda Sharples and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) I am based in Murrieta but provide therapy statewide via telehealth. I work with individuals, couples, and families addressing anxiety, depression, family dysfunction, and the stress associated with life transitions. My approach I tailor my approach to the individual needs of the client utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Structural Family Therapy. I provide a safe environment through empathy and positive regard and help the client to understand their issue and build the coping skills necessary to reduce symptoms and increase healthy functioning. My focus I have experience with serious illnesses such as cancer, dementia, and end-of-life issues. I have worked extensively with young people transitioning into adulthood and enjoy working with children utilizing play therapy. I have some training in Gottman couples therapy and am certified in Prepare Enrich marriage therapy. As a committed Christian, I am also able to offer a biblical approach to therapy if the client requests it. My communication style My communication style is very calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I create a safe environment and take time to build trust with my clients to allow them to be completely honest and open to therapy My journey to mental healthcare Having raised my children to adulthood I found myself in a place where I was free to pursue a second career. I have always been drawn to helping people and having experienced personally how effective therapy can be, I decided to become a therapist. Being a “mature” student was not easy and there were many obstacles but now I can help clients overcome their problems and become their best selves which is priceless My goals for you I will work together with my client to define their expectations for therapy, establish what they want to accomplish, set those goals, and track their progress.
