Counseling should be seen as a positive approach to dealing with life challenges. It is my belief that as a counselor, I am on your journey acting as a guide, always respecting that you are in charge of your life decisions. My professional experience has been in a variety of settings from hospitals to out-patient clinics working with people dealing with mental and /or physical problems. In addition, I have worked extensively with caregivers affected by their loved ones issues. The examples of concerns that people seek counseling range from depression, grief, anxiety, stress, dementia, relationship concerns as well as people trying to cope with the multitude of changes they are faced with in their lives. My work experience has been with adults of all ages including people in their senior years. My approach to counseling is a non-judgmental, supportive, short-term, solution focused one that leans heavily on a cognitive-behavioral approach. I do strongly believe that the relationship established between the client and counselor needs to be one of trust and mutual respect in order to have the best possible outcome to counseling. I received my Master’s Degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. My credentials are a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, (LCSW). I have 40 plus years of practicing social work.
