About

I am Lily Meiss, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I am licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. I am honored to have 5 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings including: substance abuse counseling with a diverse population of individuals living with substance use issues, trauma, and a variety of other mental health concerns, bereavement and end of life counseling with terminally ill patients and their loved ones, and career counseling with college students and recent college grads. I believe that each of us has intrinsic worth and the innate ability to heal. My goal as a therapist is to collaboratively meet you where you are in your personal journey to healing, support you to discover the best version of yourself, and empower you to connect to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I believe that therapy should be an opportunity for you to be deeply seen and understood with unconditional acceptance and no preconceived notions about who you “should” be. I will tailor my approach to your unique experience and needs. I am grounded in both evidence-based practice and holistic functional care.

I consider myself an integrative therapist who is trauma-informed, strength-based, and client-focused. I utilize a humanistic and existential approach in conjunction with empirically supported interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I am dedicated to operating as a lifelong learner in the field of counseling and am currently participating in a professional development cohort through the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh. Gestalt therapy is an expressive, present-focused, and action-based practice that emphasizes meaning and empowerment of self.
