Hi there, I'm Lewis! My name is Lewis Canyon and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (License Number: PSY34739) based in the San Francisco – Bay Area, California area. I work with clients statewide. I work with adults ages 18 and up that may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck. I work with my clients from a depth psychology perspective to help my clients feel some relief. My approach I use Psychodynamic – depth psychology approach, as it helps me to establish a shared understanding of my client’s real-world view. I want to help my clients do deep soul work, allowing them to integrate elements of their unconscious and charting a path toward alignment and balance within. My focus My approach and style is a good fit for adults who may be feeling stuck or dissatisfied with a situation or something in their reality; dealing with life transitions or challenges or failures within your career or business. I work to help my clients manage these situations and develop skills to help give them some relief during disappointing, frustrating or stormy times. My communication style Unfortunately, people do not get a chance to truly unburden themselves with things they want to talk about or process. I want my clients to know they can share vulnerable stuff with me, so they don’t have to carry it around inside. My journey to mental healthcare I would say that the pain of failing businesses; a newborn child coupled with the unexpected death of a close relative intertwined within 60 days, accidentally started me on the journey to becoming a therapist. After experiencing many life challenges, and life changing events very close to one another, I pondered the idea of going back to school in business or law. In getting advice from one of my trusted elders, he suggested against law school, and thought I would be a good therapist. I decided to volunteer at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County’s suicide hotline for the next year and a half.
