About

I've been working in this field for numerous years and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma. I've worked in a variety of situations from inpatient drug rehab for Native American women and their children - when I left inpatient services I moved to aftercare and follow-up services for the women and children who had completed the program and continued to provide individual and family outpatient therapy. I've worked in nursing home and geriatric therapy providing transition therapy that included loss of independence; health changes, grief/loss and end of life therapy. I have provided couples therapy including retreats; workshops and individual couple therapy to aid in improving communication/relationship enhancement and when relationships are no longer compatible how to move forward and if children are involved how not to put them in the middle. I've contracted for the federal government and provided services to our military men and women from active duty, transitioning after war - adjusting to life back home based on their "new norm" due to things witnessed or experienced to those retired from service. It is my honor to serve a population that I hold in the highest regard and have the upmost respect and gratitude for their service. I've worked individuals dealing with trauma including domestic violence and sexual assault in private sector and on college campuses - including writing a successful grant to reduce violence on college campuses.

I take an eclectic approach to providing services and treat everyone with dignity, respect and unconditional positive regard. I choose to meet you were you are in life and work with you to move forward in a healthy way. I use a variety of treatment approaches and do not stick to just one techniques as every client is unique and individual and so should the approach to provide services.

I take an eclectic approach and use a variety of service modalities. I meet each client where they are and strive to provide unconditional support as we build trust and rapport for a therapeutic relationship. I believe that it is essential to have a healthy/trusting therapist/client relationship to be successful. My preferred therapeutic methods are: solution-focused; client-centered, motivational interviewing and cognitive therapy. I am a self described nerd. I loved learning and improving my therapeutic intervention strategies and am constantly reading/studying and attending workshops that allow me to be confident in my delivery and one of the best in the field. I started off from educational psychology position with my first masters degree. I desired to learn and understand varying perspectives and continued my education by completing a second masters degree in social work.

I love meeting people and I strive to provide unconditional positive regard - meeting you where you are at this moment and accepting you for who you are and moving forward at the pace you desire - starting where you feel most comfortable. I strive to make every client feel secure by proving a safe environment and I advocate for those I serve who at the present might be unsuccessful or lack the confidence needed to advocate for themselves. It is so rewarding to witness clients move forward, increase confidence, ability to communicate and learn to accept/love themselves. I applaud you on taking this step to improve your life. I do not take the courage needed to seek assistance lightly and I look forward to making your acquaintance and helping you navigate the journey.
