As a 25-year educator, I have developed a systematic approach in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD in adolescents and adults. My approach I work from a present, past, and future standpoint. It is important to determine how familial patterns condition one's responses and cognition. I have a proven record of building empathy, rapport, and understanding. My approach is very non threatening and most of my clients have commented on how easily it is to "talk" to me. My focus I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better. My communication style I have over 20 years experience in education and counseling. I build rapport easily with my clients and utilize a client-centered approach in therapy. I have experience in in-patient acute care, crisis, trauma, substance abuse, CBT, DBT, REBT, and ACT. In addition, I specialize in depression, anxiety, Bipolar, Borderline, trauma, OCD and anger management. I also treat adolescents and adults as well. I have worked with adolescents for over 20 years and adults over seven. My journey to mental healthcare I started my journey as a high school teacher with a focus on making a change through building relationships. After 15 years in the classroom, I made a lateral move to school counselor. In an effort to be more effective, I shifted to professional mental health counselor. My goals for you I use a client-centered and psychoanalytical approach in establishing client goals. The client and I collaboratively decide on what goals will work best for treatment. My first session with you I work with clients who may be struggling with depression or trauma related to their relationships or family.
