About
Hello! My name is Leandra and I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker from the great state of Ohio and I'm an alumni of Case Western Reserve University. I've been providing therapy for the past 6 years in a variety of settings. Currently, I work independently for a mental health agency. It is my belief that all life has value and my goal is for my clients to recognize their worth. My previous experience is with children and families in the community. I worked with schools, courts and families on understanding their child's behavior and helping the child reach even the smallest of goals. Sometimes, after all, we just need someone to listen and attempt to understand us. I work with clients that are affected by anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse and those that are survivors of narcissistic and abusive personality abuse.
I'm very open minded and ready to help my clients experience their best lives. Life is worth living and everyone should have their chance to experience that. My sessions are about 45 minutes in length and driven by the client. My goal is for your session to be both comfortable and therapeutic.
I'm eclectic in my therapy of choice, really meaning I love so many different interventions that I can't pick just one. I use the treatment modality that is most fitting for the client. I've found that the most effective change method is with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This therapeutic style looks at the underlying beliefs that lead to feelings and later behaviors. I like to focus on finding your core beliefs and giving small homework assignments to challenge them. I've also found that solution focused and motivational interviewing can be helpful. These types of therapy are client driven. It allows the client and myself to find out what hidden strengths you already have to work with along with looking at where you are making changes. This type of therapy tends to be most helpful with addiction, relationship issues and work related conflicts. Lastly, I enjoy using narrative therapy. This is work through storytelling. I'm more of an unbiased listener as we find out what parts of your life have brought you to the issue you're dealing with today. I've also recently become EMDR trained and am able to provide this service by telehealth.
With all formalities aside, I look forward to meeting with you. You will guide our sessions and be the captain of your therapeutic boat. Which reminds me, my favorite self care is fishing on the lake with my husband. Let's start your journey towards the life you want and deserve.
