I have years of experience working in mental health field, over 18, and as a therapist for 15 years. I earned my Masters degree in Social work from Eastern Washington University in 2006 and have been practicing since working in private practice, residential treatment with teens and young adults, state of Idaho and in a community clinic. I have worked in hospital, school and community settings as a counselor, mental health specialist, clinician and a supervisor.
I approach counseling from a teaching perspective and pride myself in offering practical help and strategies to assist clients to improve their overall emotional well-being whether struggling with trauma, anxiety, mood or grief. I want clients to leave each session with something new to try and I teach clients through Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Mindfulness, Meditation, Relaxation, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and Motivational Interviewing.
I have experience working with all ages and enjoy helping individuals from varying populations, ages and presenting problems. I'm a big proponent of group work and enjoy leading and training others in this approach. Group work provides a different and enriching experience compared to individual therapy and i believe many believe from the "me too" impact.
