Hello and Welcome,
I am Laura T. Kabatt-Kennedy, (She, Her, Hers) a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience fostering therapeutic alliances. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Health Education at West Chester University, PA. After college, I enlisted in the US Army, and attended graduate school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus before being transferred to Hawaii. I was very lucky to have a leader who allowed me to attend graduate school while on active duty. The Master's degree in Social Work was earned through the University of Hawaii, Manoa. I am a life long learner and devoted to using the best evidence based therapy for each individual.

A variety of therapeutic therapies are utilized in the work I do: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. I have experience working with individuals struggling with negative self-talk, low self-esteem, mood instability, substance use, challenging irrational beliefs, anxiety, history of trauma, identity development, and the list continues. Other experience with couples and families in both the military and civilian cultures as a mental health professional/LCSW. As a counselor, I foster respect, mutual understanding, a process of work towards resolution of your concerns and problems. I have worked inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment facilities environments over the years. I spend my day time hours working with the Alaska VA Healthcare System and a part time independent contractor with Find A Therapist on evenings & weekend, since July 2021.

A little more about me: I grew up on the East Coast of USA. I have a son, two dogs, and my home is in Alaska. I am dually licensed (LCSW) in Maryland and Alaska. My hobbies include hiking, crafting, art, sports, and watching a good sci-fi movie or professional sport competition.
