About
I have been a Licensed Social Worker for over 7 years, graduating from the School of Social Welfare at SUNY Albany in 2014 and recently obtaining my Licensed Clinical license in 2021. I hold an undergraduate degree in social work from Siena College. I am married with two young children. I have been working in an urban community mental health setting for 8 years helping people with mental health issues including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. I also work with a small group of clients who are experiencing struggles with addiction. I help individuals deal with major life stressors, relationship, and family issues. I also have experience as an intern working in a high school setting and a local hospital in the postpartum unit.
I am open minded and do not judge individuals no matter what their background, beliefs, or current circumstances. Depression, anxiety, grief & loss, vocational issues, and relationship problems are common among many people and I try to help individuals learn to cope with these stressors in a healthy way. I encourage individuals to be healthy and reach out to support networks.
I have a conservative approach using Motivational Interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which can include homework that works to examine and change thoughts and feelings), Person Centered , Problem Solving and Supportive Therapy. My approach is supportive and I start where the person is. I work hard to create a safe environment where people can feel free to express themselves and believe in the strength of a safe, therapeutic relationship in counseling. I operate from a strength based position and try to help individuals realize their strengths in situations. I work with people to set small goals that can lead to bigger changes in the long-term. Clients are essential in determining what goals they would like to focus on as this is their treatment.
It can be difficult to reach out for help, but taking the step to engage in counseling is the start to positive changes you can make. I want to help you reach the goals you set and am looking forward to helping you in this process.
Please note: I do not provide letters for social security, therapy/support animals, court, motor vehicles, employment, or other types of letters. If you are seeking treatment/therapy/counseling for these reasons please seek another counselor.
