My name is LaTonya Scriven Charles. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Grief Counseling Specialist. I also have a master’s degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in Executive Non Profit Management. I have over 15 years experience in the field of Social Work. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life skills development, parenting issues, career planning and coaching, ADHD and substance abuse. With over 17 years of helping people who are diagnosed with PTSD, Military Soldiers and the families, those that have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence, I am able to help build trusting relationships and foster healthy lines of communication.

For seven years I have owned and operated several mental health clinics, including Bayou Mental Health Services, LLC in Central Louisiana and I also work for a local school district helping teachers with social and emotional learning strategies for classroom development and professional development.

Upon graduating college, I worked for a program under the umbrella of the Shriver Institute, helping youth adjust to the daily challenges stemming from behavioral, familial and academic issues. Working with this program helped me to make the right choice of continuing my education in the field of Social Work.

My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from several modalities to fit the needs and goals of the client. I am trained and experienced in Nutritional healing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Trauma), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Narrative therapy, and Trauma Informed Therapy.
