About

"People who do not find time for recreation, are obliged sooner or later, to find time for illness." ~John Wanamaker

It's impossible to travel 1,800 miles on a quarter tank of gas. Our vehicles would fail to arrive at their destinations without sufficient fuel. Just as the gas tanks in our vehicles require an adequate source of energy to move, so do we as humans. Yet often times, we navigate the days of our lives with our “emotional tanks” near empty and ignore our engine's warning signs, eventually causing poor self-care hygiene and use of ineffective coping skills. As such, our negligence prevents us from arriving at our destinations (goals) and often causes more damage to our vehicles along the way. Your engine light has been on long enough without maintenance! It's time to pull over, repair and refuel; and it is my pleasure to assist!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in the states of Wisconsin and Texas, with over 5 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Alverno College and my Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have worked with clients with a wide range of mental health concerns in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. My counseling style is person-centered, emphasizing the importance of the therapist-client relationship with the client as the "driver" and myself as an emotional support passenger. I offer motivation in an interactive platform, while using a "gentle challenging" approach to provide an empathetic environment, free of judgment and inclusive of trust, guiding clients to their preferred destination. I incorporate a variety of treatment modalities specific to client needs, including but not limited to, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling.

It takes courage to pull over to the side of the road when you are uncertain where you are and what lies ahead, and requires resilience to fill a tank it seems impossible to replenish. You've driven alone long enough; allow me to join you...I am eager to ride along!

Hopeful for Healing,
LaQuita
