My name is LaKeisha Jordan. I graduated from Wayne State University with my Master of Arts degree in Counseling in 2016. I specialize in trauma therapy with teens and adults (ages 14+). I am trained in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and EMDR. I also work a lot with client who struggle with depression and anxiety as these disorders are closely linked to trauma. I help clients heal from past trauma so they can become happy, whole, and confident. As a clinician, I would describe myself as empathetic, understanding, patient, and open. I am very direct yet gentle and non-judgmental. I encourage clients to have honest self-reflection so that they can increase personal insight and self-awareness. I believe that healing and growth begins with self-awareness. I am a person-centered clinician meaning that I strive to meet the client where they are and make sure that each session is tailored to the individual needs of the client. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution focused therapy. I do not believe that therapy should be never ending. My goal is to help clients identify the root of their issues, process and work through said issues, and teach clients the necessary skills to obtain and maintain mental stability. The skills you learn in sessions will help you to continue to grow and thrive long after you have graduated from therapy. So, how do you know if I’m the right therapist for you? Ask yourself, have you experienced trauma? Are you experiencing nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, forgetfulness, and/or trouble concentrating? Are you easily triggered and always on edge or on high alert? Do you feel sad, scared, angry, ashamed, guilty, lost, or confused? If so, you could be suffering from PTSD. I am here to help!
