About
Hi there, I'm Kylie! Hello, I’m an LMFT and I thoroughly enjoy my work as a therapist. My name is Kylie Mackenzie, but you can call me Ky. I change my approach with everyone I see, generally speaking, because everyone heals in their own unique way. My approach My most common theoretical approach is client-centered (we are equals) and psychoanalytic (I’m a blank slate) so the focus is purely on you with a split of problem solving and breaking down the emotional parts of the issue. My focus I am very familiar with working with adults and teens. I have experience working with substance abuse and dual diagnoses. I am comfortable working with those with personality disorders, depression, bipolar, anxiety, and trauma. My communication style I cultivate a highly relaxed and safe setting because I understand coming to therapy can be extremely difficult for some. Working with me will be a solid mix of being client-focused, some humor, and a judgment-free zone. My journey to mental healthcare I began my journey to becoming a therapist through pure interest in psychology. What drives me to be a therapist is the past positive experiences of clients having success through therapy. Even the negative experiences drive me because it is a chance to learn and do better. My goals for you When approaching goal setting I believe the client (you) should be the one to verbalize an end goal. I do also believe in collaboration for setting goals, so it is a therapeutic goal that will benefit the client the most. My first session with you So, the first sessions do require many questions in a short period of time. My approach is to keep the questions conversational, so it is relaxed and not anxiety-inducing.
