Hi! My name is Kristy and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana. I have over 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I am currently working in the school setting and I also have a private practice where I see individuals of all ages, couples and families. I have the most experience working with family/relationship conflicts, ADHD issues, depression, stress and anxiety, and helping clients improve self-esteem and confidence.

I use a person-centered approach to therapy, in which we focus on you as a person and not the problem itself. This type of approach allows you and I to have an equal approach to therapy. The ultimate goal is for you to gain independence and learn how to cope when facing current and future problems. I use evidence based techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy, and solution-focused counseling.

I would describe myself as friendly, supportive, and easy-going. I expect you to be honest and put forth effort as a full partner in the counseling process. You must make your own decisions. I will help you in the process, but my Code of Ethics does not allow me to advise you to make a specific decision. As we work together, if you have specific suggestions or concerns about your counseling, I expect you to share this with me so that we can make the necessary adjustments.

Mental health is just as important as physical health and I applaud you for taking the first step to wellness. I look forward to helping you in any way that I can.
