I am a licensed social worker in Louisiana with over five years of experience working as a counselor. I have worked in a variety of settings with clients who have a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues and life changes.
My counseling style is client-centered and grounded in the autonomy and worth of the person being counseled. The most important part of therapy is the alliance created between you and the therapist with whom you choose to work. I believe that people are doing the best that they can, given their skills and environment at the time. I believe that acceptance and understanding create an environment where folks are best able to figure out what will work to meet their specific goals. Often, an objective, but caring, counselor can provide a perspective that can be helpful.
Taking the steps to begin therapy is not always easy, but it can empower folks to create a more fulfilling life.
