Hello, and welcome to my bio page! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and for being brave in taking this step to reach out to someone. It can be an intimidating process, but I am confident you will experience a smooth transition if you choose to work with me.

My name is Kristen Draughan and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2011 and my Master's degree in Social Work in 2015. I began seeing clients in 2014 and I have continued working in a clinical role ever since. Over the last five years, I have worked with men, women, and children in the community and have also worked with individuals who are incarcerated. These counseling sessions have provided opportunities to work with a variety of mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and personality disorders. I have also worked extensively with victims of abuse: physical, sexual, spiritual, and emotional.

I am deeply passionate about empowering my clients as they wade through difficult times in their life and my goal is to approach them through a trauma-informed lens. I also strive to offer skills that improve one's self-worth and resilience.

To help facilitate this, I became a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I have also completed numerous trainings on Shame Resilience Theory by Dr. Brené Brown. To make sure I have a rounded approach, I also draw on other treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
