Krista graduated with her master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University in 2020. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from SUNY New Paltz in 2016 and minored in women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. She received her training through internships with LI Against Domestic Violence and LI Coalition for the Homeless. Krista has more than two and a half years of experience providing counseling for children, teens, adults and members of the LGBTQ+ community. She also provided counseling for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as individuals experiencing homelessness. Krista provides services to various clients struggling with issues such as: anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, low self-esteem, extensive trauma histories, and more. She utilizes several approaches such as: Person-centered, Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Empowerment Approaches, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, and Trauma Informed Therapy in order to help her clients. She also utilizes Play Therapy when working with children and adolescents. Her theoretical orientation draws upon many different modalities and counseling styles based on what works best for that individual client. Krista creates a comfortable environment by providing a warm and compassionate tone and presence with her clients. This helps her foster a space where clients can truly be their authentic selves. She finds that the therapeutic relationship can be the biggest factor in a positive therapeutic experience. So, getting to know you and building rapport is very important to her. She has a personable demeanor which she finds helps her clients to feel more relaxed and eases any stress or worries about beginning therapy.
