My name is Kim Tarshis, and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 30 years of experience in the development, cohesion, and empowerment of people and communities. I received my master’s degree in social work from Southern Connecticut State University in 1992 and have been working in the social services field ever since! I have spent my career helping clients with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and care giving issues(including both with parenting and care giving for aging parents). I also have professional experience in remediating child welfare and domestic violence issues and have also dedicated a large portion of my career to working with active duty military members, veterans, and their families.
My counseling style is client-centered and strength-based. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy to help recognize and work towards client goals. Together we will identify strategies and tools that you can use to make positive changes in your life. I feel it is a privilege to work with every one of my clients and I strive to create a supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable and understood. As such, I commit to treating each of my clients with respect, compassion and sensitivity.
To facilitate this friendly and supportive environment, I can interact with you in whatever way you are most comfortable, whether that be through video sessions, phone calls, or text messages. The majority of my availability is in the evenings and on weekends but I check messages at least twice during each weekday.
