I am a clinical social worker licensed in North Carolina and Illinois and have been working with individuals and families in therapy for over 6 years. I earned my Master of Social Work degree through the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a focus in mental health. I believe that therapy is such a beneficial service that gives individuals the opportunity to feel a genuine, authentic connection with another human. An opportunity to be heard and validated in their experiences, which is a necessary part of healing.

I have provided counseling services to individuals struggling with general life stress, relationship difficulties, stage of life issues, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem/self-identity challenges. No individual’s journey is exactly the same as someone else’s. We may go through similar experiences, but we all take different paths to get there. In my work, I support you in recognizing experiences that contributed to where you are now, and help you explore where your path goes next.

My counseling style is focused on you and your goals. My role in therapy is to support you in exploring the things you need in order to get to the place you’d like to be in your life. I have thorough training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, both in individual and group treatment settings. I find these DBT skills incredibly useful and find that I use them in my own life daily to increase my satisfaction with life. Mindfulness is a big part of my work, helping individuals to become more aware of their emotions and experiences, both inside and out. It’s the first step in recognizing and creating change in our lives. In my therapy practice, I am also knowledgeable in and utilize client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and task-centered approaches. I work with you early in treatment to identify goals you’d like to work towards in the short and long term and we will develop an individualized plan for you to meet those.

I typically use messaging as a primary method of communication, but do offer other types of contact to supplement our messaging such as live-chat, phone, and video sessions. At this time, I am available for live-chat, phone, and video sessions on weekdays during the day.
