Welcome to Find A Therapist! My name is Kim Cousens, I have been an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) in the state of California for over 20 years. I believe that you already have the tools you need, and I want to help you to access them so that you can live a happier more satisfying life. I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and teens in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, schools, non-profit agencies and private practice. Often the most difficult part of starting therapy is deciding that you want help and reaching out to get that help. Good job, by looking at profiles you are on your way to getting the help that you deserve! I believe that finding a therapist who you can trust and feel comfortable with is extremely important. That is one of the reasons that I wanted to join Find A Therapist because this platform allows clients to look at a variety of profiles before starting. I have helped clients deal with many issues including anxiety, depression, family/relationship conflict, trauma, substance use, and parenting. My style is supportive, gentle non-judgmental and direct. My clients report feeling listened to safe, and also challenged to work toward change. I look forward to helping you in your journey to improved mental health.
