About

“Sitaram” Kenneth Sandin, LCSW, believes that each of us is the expert in our own life, and our innate wisdom is best accessed when we feel safe to share and reflect. He has a wide-ranging experience working in places like hospices, meditation centers, prisons, and homeless shelters, and in 2019 he received his MSW from Cal Poly Humboldt in a program specialized in the decolonization of social work. Prior to this, he spent 3 years of intensive study with a meditation teacher in Hawaii. My approach Grief work, person-centered therapy, existential and transpersonal psychology, and mindfulness-based approaches to mental health. My focus I have worked with a wide range of people at all life stages, but I specialize in grief, end-of-life issues, existential crises, religious trauma, anxiety, depression, and non-ordinary states of consciousness My communication style I strive to create an atmosphere of safety, trust, and acceptance, as these are key ingredients for a healing environment. I am a clear communicator with a naturally-warm tone of voice. My journey to therapy My journey started with my own healing, which brought me to study under my meditation teacher, Ram Dass, for three years on Maui. He encouraged me to follow a path of service as a way to continue my own healing and to live a deep and meaningful life. My goals for you I believe in each human's ability to heal, transform, and live an authentic life. I work with clients to get in touch with their own core needs and deepest-held values, and we work together to set realistic, attainable, and life-enhancing goals. My first session with you When you leave the first session, my goal is for you to feel safe, comfortable, and clear about what it will be like working with me. I will gather needed information, explain my therapeutic approach, and provide plenty of space for you to ask your own questions to ensure I will be the right fit for you.
