I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002 with a Master's degree in Social Work. I worked as a Foster care and Adoptions social worker for the first eleven years of my career. I began to explore different areas of social work to include hospital social work and managing intensive in home programs for children and adolescents . In 2018, I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I provided individual and group therapy to incarcerated offenders . I later provided direct therapy to families an children in crises due to homelessness, substance use, domestic violence issues, teenage pregnancy, and loss of a loved one due to violence. My approach to any of the aforementioned situations starts with a place of nonjudgment, empathetic listening, and working from a strength's perspective. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy frequently. I am also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Clinical trauma. I am in the process of gaining a certification in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. Clients have found me easy to work due to my nonconfrontation stance and belief in creating a safe, trusting environment. With almost 20 years of experience, I enjoy helping others become the best version of themselves
