About

Hi, my name is Kelly Fisher and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families on a variety of issues related to grief/loss, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, and life transitions. Having experience working in both the hospice and hospital setting, I am acutely aware of the realities clients and families face as they endure serious/chronic illness, prognosis, anticipatory loss, and grief/bereavement. It is my hope to help clients express their emotions, process their loss(es), and sensitively find resilience in their new normal. I use a strength-based and action-oriented approach using CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative, and Compassion-focused interventions to enhance self-awareness, expression, and acceptance. However, I place the utmost importance on the client-therapist relationship to foster a safe space to work together. I believe in the power of telling our story, reflecting on our truths, and creating a safe environment to challenge those beliefs or narratives that may be hindering us. I approach all my work with an empathetic and attentive eye to the needs of the client, while also exploring their own past challenges and how those challenges may be impacting their current experience. Much of my work has focused on individuals walking through the hardships of grief and loss. However, grief and loss can also be experienced in other life contexts such as divorce, illness/injury, failed dreams, infertility, parenting challenges, family estrangement, retirement, sudden job loss, and relocation. The experiences of these life events and others are just as important to honor, and individuals can benefit greatly from working through a therapeutic process. Together we navigate feelings of sadness, shock, emptiness, guilt, loneliness, anxiety, hopelessness, and anger while searching for strategies and behaviors that breathe life amid the emotional pain.
