Hello, I am Kelleen Stainer. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I take a 'client-centered' approach to therapy and believe therapy is a partnership between the client and the therapist. My approach My therapeutic approach is to provide insight and emotional support, to help facilitate positive change, and to improve feelings of wellbeing and overall quality of life. I draw on person-centered and cognitive behavioral theories, but treatment plans are individualized to what best fits each individual situation and person. My focus I typically work with adult clients in need of additional support to cope with their current life challenges. I am most comfortable treating individuals with generalized anxiety disorder, depression, grief, self esteem issues, chronic illness and relationship issues. My communication style Clients appreciate my calming nature and warm, practical and collaborative approach. I work with my clients to create a personalized plan to help support them through life's challenges. I am engaged. I listen and I reflect back. I will ask questions and offer interpretations. My first session with you A first session involves many questions about you, how you cope, and your sysmptoms (similar to an interview). It is a time for us to get to know each other so that I can find out what brought you to therapy and whether I will be able to provide the type of therapeutic approach you are looking for.
