My name is Kayla and I have earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology. Firmly embedded in a scientist-practitioner framework, I strongly believe in conducting therapy supported by empirical evidence. My graduate training emphasized the cognitive-behavioral approach, and as a therapy provider I also value client-centered care, balancing acceptance and change, and empirical evidence. I am passionate about treating transdiagnostic (across many different mood disorder diagnoses) deficits in emotion regulation and aim to maintain a compassionate and nonjudgmental stance toward my clients while striving to continually balance and synthesize acceptance and change-oriented strategies in therapy.

I also believe that therapy should be collaborative and respecting of client agency in therapeutic decision-making. I believe that each client is unique and is his or her own expert; when the client brings knowledge of his or her life experiences, values, and perspective on what works for them and how it fits into their life, and I bring my toolbox of techniques and knowledge of the scientific literature, we are able to achieve a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
