About

My name is Katrina Freeman and I am an Alabama state licensed counselor and clinical supervisor for associate-level counselors. She has over 30 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse counseling fields. I have an acceptance-based, client-centered approach to therapy. My passion is helping clients find balance and wellness in their lives. My approach My therapeutic approach is client-focused reality therapy. I work with clients to challenge anxiety-provoking and negative thoughts through centering and grounding interventions, and utilize CBT and Motivational Interviewing to help clients along the journey to wellness. My focus I primarily work with adult clients working through alcohol/substance abuse, adjustment, stress management, anger management, anxiety, depression, parenting dynamics, and marital/couples issues. I work with clients to identify and address those psychosocial and other stressors that undermine a balanced and healthy lifestyle. My communication style Clients need and deserve a therapist who provides a therapeutic environment where they feel valued and supported. I work, in partnership with clients, to work toward completion of their self-identified goals. I provide client-focused therapy and treat clients with unconditional positive regard. My journey to mental healthcare My desire to help others live holistically healthy lives is what motivates me as a therapist. Life is full of challenges, and being a wellness partner to help mitigate those challenges and assist clients in moving toward wellness is a daily reward. My goals for you I work with clients to help them identify areas they wish to grow or further develop and assist them with setting those as goals and establishing actionable objectives that enable them to begin to work towards achievement of those goals. My first session with you Clients should expect an intake session where informed consent including the limits to confidentiality are discussed.
