About
Seeking help is one of the most difficult steps in making changes in our lives. Give yourself credit for taking that step.
I am a licensed as a professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. I worked for five years in a community mental health setting, and have worked for 10 years in a small private group practice. I work from a primarily cognitive-behavioral perspective, but I pull techniques from other theories, such as solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
I believe that the most important element of counseling is the relationship between the client and the counselor. Clients must feel the counseling environment is a safe and supportive place where they can openly share and process their struggles and emotions. Clients each bring their own unique concerns and goals to counseling so there is no “one size fits all” approach.
I have experience in working with adults and teens addressing a variety of concerns such as mood and anxiety disorders, work and school stress, family and relationship conflicts, adjustment disorders, anger management, and post-partum depression and anxiety. I am also comfortable addressing spiritual issues if clients have interest. I especially enjoy working with gifted students as well as teens and young adults who are struggling with life decisions.
My educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology from Ohio State University in 2003, and a M.Ed. in Community Counseling from Ohio University in 2005.
I have become aware of the need for more options and flexibility for individuals to access counseling services and look forward to providing therapy for clients needing support in a non-traditional setting.
