Hello,
my name is Kathleen James. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have worked in the mental health and child welfare field for 13 years. I have 8 years’ experience working in a mental health setting and 5 years working in a child welfare setting. I have lengthy experience working with various individuals and groups; this has allowed me the opportunity to work with individuals with various mental health issues from different populations and demographics. I have experience working with adults, youth, and children in several different treatment settings; this has given me insight to understanding the needs of individuals in crisis. My educational background, which includes a Clinical License, a Master's degree in Social Work and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, has been entirely devoted to understanding the human condition to appropriately serve the various groups and populations I encounter throughout my professional career.

My goal is to help individuals heal by processing barriers to happiness and resolving past or current trauma. My clinical frame of reference is Psychodynamic Therapy. I believe our experiences are tremendously shaped by our nuclear family and our early childhood experiences. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness exercises and Solution Focus Therapy to assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, healthy life patterns and reframing perceived problems. I believe participating in therapy is your first step to healing. I look forward to helping you on your journey.
