Hi there, I'm Kathleen! Hello, I am Katie Weldon, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in San Diego, CA. My approach to therapy is eclectic and tailored to the needs of each client or couple. My areas of greatest clinical interest include survivors of prior trauma or abuse, military members and families, LGBTQIA2S+, disordered eating, couples therapy, grief counseling and life transitions. My approach My work is feminist, trauma informed and allied with marginalized identities. In our work together we might frequently incorporate Emotionally Focused Therapy, Existentialism, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy as I have found these to be incredibly helpful tools when working with clients. I also have experience with Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma. My focus Couples, Veterans/Active Duty Service Members or their Families, PTSD, Survivors of Abuse, LGBTQIA2S+ and Queer clients, Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating, Anxiety, and Depression. My communication style I consider myself a highly welcoming therapist and strive to create conditions of comfort for my clients in office or over telehealth. I am happy to celebrate successes with you as well as share in hurts or tribulation. My journey to mental healthcare I have been working with clients since 2020 when the pandemic swept the nation and I saw first hand how essential mental health care is to most people during times of stress. As a military spouse and mother of special needs children, I have experienced the clients perspective in therapy and felt it's healing effects on my life time and time again.
