About

Hello and welcome to Find A Therapist! It’s likely you’re here due to finding yourself struggling with some issues in your life and you’re trying to seek out ways to better deal with them. The first step in therapy is connecting with a therapist that you feel safe, secure, and comfortable with, so please let me introduce myself. My name is Kathleen (Kathy) O’Dierno (pronounced: Oh-Dear-No) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Illinois. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University in 2012.

I have been a social worker for 8 years and have experience working with individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds who struggle with a wide variety of personal issues. Most of my experience has been working with people who suffer from anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and more. My clients find me to be empathetic, compassionate, caring, and non-judgmental. They also appreciate my honesty and directness with them. Life is a journey and there are times we need someone to walk along side of us helping guide us through the difficulties life brings to help us better know ourselves and interact with the world at large. It is my belief that we can grow through life’s challenges by increasing our coping/regulation skills, self-awareness, and resiliency. Often times, someone who is not in our personal life can offer an objective perspective and/or additional support when we need it most. This helps us move through wherever we may feel stuck.

I can connect with you in whatever manner you like most. Video sessions can be helpful, so we can get to know one another better. That said, I am also available via the telephone and/or chat if either of those are a more comfortable fit for you. I am available on the weekends with varied availability, CST time zone. I check my messages once a day most days, sometimes more other days.

I know it can be hard to ask for help, so I commend you on your strength in taking this first step. We all want to share our personal truths, be heard, feel accepted, and also feel understood. I am open and non-judgmental when my clients share their most intimate thoughts, feelings, and stories with me and I understand how hard it can be to find a therapist that you connect with. Please know I am honored to work with you through this stage of your life.
