About

Hi there, I'm Kathleen! My name is Kathleen Seelbach, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have been licensed for 23 years. I use an eclectic approach to counseling with an emphasis on building a solid relationship with clients. I believe all of us have innate strengths that allow us to grow and enhance our lives when we are provided with the right kind of support and assistance. I have strengths in working with trauma survivors, particularly those who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual assault. I also have a background in working with the LGBTQ+ community. I also have experience in child welfare, including foster care and adoption. My approach I believe the therapeutic relationship is vital to helping a client grow and develop healthy skills. Thus I focus on relationship building and making the client feel safe and comfortable in the counseling setting. I also use cognitive behavioral aspects in counseling and acceptance/commitment therapy. I believe mindfulness strategies are very helpful to most clients, and I like to incorporate them as well. My focus I feel my strengths are in working with people with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. I also work with LGBTQ clientele, including those with gender identity concerns. I have a lot of experience working with people who have had sexual trauma in their lives and are experiencing difficulties related to their trauma. My communication style I try to establish a comfortable, safe, accepting, and completely nonjudgmental therapeutic environment for my clients. I want them to feel as comfortable as possible when sharing their issues and concerns. I also strive to create a sense of hopefulness and positivity that whatever their problems are, there are things they can learn to help improve their lives. I value my clients greatly, and I have great admiration and respect for their bravery in entering into counseling to make changes and better their lives.
