I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have a wide variety of experience counseling first as a Teacher and then as a Counselor. I was a teacher for 20 years,and understand students and parents, and the difficulties/adjustments they face. I have taught in the USA, Africa, South Korea, Dominican Republic, and online; so I have lots of cross-cultural experience, and love learning about new cultures and cultural diverse issues. As a counselor the past 10 years, I have counseled clients from the USA, including different people groups such as LGBT, African American, Native American, African, Chinese and Middle Eastern clients, using translators when needed. I am a very accepting person, and especially interested in helping different people groups with adjustment/life changes issues.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is my number one counseling approach. It is an excellent and well-known therapy for Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, it is also excellent for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and any bad memories. Also, it is a great relaxation method that I will teach you to do at home. I have had many clients successfully overcome anxiety, traumatic flashbacks and dreams, pulling out hair, smoking and depression by using EMDR. Also, depending on the needs of the client, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in helping clients to reach their treatment goals. Counseling is the process of coming along side a person and helping them to identify what changes they would like to make in their life and developing strategies together to achieve their goals.
