About

Hey! I’m Katherine and I call South Carolina, USA home! I have a bachelor’s in Sociology, a master’s in Counseling, and a post-master’s in Addiction Psychology. I am an LPC.

The bottom line of how I do therapy is the relationship built between me and my clients. I believe in using the relationship to inspire, motivate and facilitate healthy adaptation in the life of my clients. I have 12+ years of post-high school education and 4 licenses and certifications, but everything I know about how to really help people comes from my life experience. Come, let me show you how I got through it all and let us see what I can do to help you get through whatever it is that you are struggling with right now.

I was born in east Texas by way of Alabama to a Southern Baptist Preacher and a church secretary. I have one older sister. My husband is a retired firefighter/paramedic, and we have one son. I went to college on a vocal scholarship, and I love to sing. I also love to fish. My favorite sport is college football, and I am a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan!

I have more than 20 years of counseling experience. Within this time, I have worked with individuals, families, and couples. I specialize in working with clients teaching them coping and relaxation skills to improve their quality of life without medications. My primary specialties are grief, addiction, depression, and first responder issues.

My focus is support and empathy. My approach to counseling is patient-centered and holistic. I believe in an eclectic counseling style, meaning I draw on multiple theoretical orientations during my counseling sessions. Clients must engage in therapy to make necessary changes in their lives. I believe that as people become more aware of their thoughts, actions, emotions, and beliefs, they have increased ability to face challenges and overcome difficult situations more successfully.

I believe in providing a supportive environment, free from judgement, where my clients can explore their thoughts and feelings to gain a better understanding about themselves and their world. With this understanding, positive change and growth happens. When you change your thoughts, you change your life! There really is hope! But you cannot do it alone! Life is hard! I want to help you learn to love yourself and live your best life!
