About
Hi there, I'm Katerra! I am Katerra Davis. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I enjoy working with teenagers and adults by helping them navigate their experiences in life. My approach I like to develop an understanding as to how the individual I am working with navigates and interacts with the people and environment that they live in. I also enjoy working with clients on understanding their perception along with how feelings and thoughts impact behaviors and outcomes. I tend to use Gestalt, CBT and DBT theoretical approaches. My focus I predominantly work with teens and adults who are encountering difficulties with mood disorders, anxiety, depression and anger. My communication style I try to be as genuine as possible when working with clients. I like to communicate using everyday language and do my best to avoid sounding clinical. I like for my clients to feel comfortable and heard and encourage them to communicate in a way that is natural to them. I do not want my clients to feel like they need to sensor themselves. My journey to therapy I originally began my professional journey in the Criminal Justice field working in theft and fraud. I never fully felt comfortable in that field and felt as though I was doing more harm than good. It was during my therapy process of trying to figure out my purpose in life that the therapist I was working with encouraged me to enter the field of helping others. I have to say that I have never felt so genuine in myself and my purpose as I do now working as a therapist. I truly do enjoy helping others through their unique journeys. What I love the most is how I continue to learn and grow through each of my clients and the life skills and experiences that each of them offers and for that, I will forever be grateful. My goals for you I like to work with my clients to make treatment goals that are important and meaningful for their individual living needs.
