About
Our lives can be incredibly challenging and demanding in today’s world. We are constantly pulled in so many directions between our relationships, work lives, pressure for a healthy lifestyle, constant stream of world news, and so much more. Having a safe and comforting space to openly discuss and better understand ourselves amidst that constant push and pull can help ease that strain we often feel. I offer an empathic, client-centered approach to therapy.
Most importantly, I prioritize creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship free from judgement. I employ behavioral techniques to support development of functional coping skills and stress reduction techniques for quick results. For longer-term work, I utilize psychodynamic techniques to support clients in increasing understanding and insight around how their personal history and relationships are influencing current patterns and behaviors. I strive to really understand what makes you who you are.
My values of kindness, service to others, and fairness drive me to support clients in increasing understanding of their personal identity and their core values. I aim to empower clients to create change for themselves to decrease emotional suffering while working collaboratively to foster development of insight, sense of self-worth, and personal fulfillment.
I work with adults, families, and people in relationships around a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, family system and relationship challenges, and issues related to body image and disordered eating, such as binge-eating, yo-yo dieting, and difficulties relating to challenges with weight.
I am also part of the LGBTQ+ community, and as a bisexual woman, I specialize in working with others that identify with this community to feel more authentic, self-accepting, and secure in relationships. I'm also passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ couples to repair trust, improve communication, and strengthen their emotional intimacy with each other.
I received my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University and have worked in school and community based organizations. In addition to providing psychotherapy, my professional background includes work with youth and families involved in the child welfare system advocating to keep families together within a system that often does not address the complexity of their needs as well as experience with crisis stabilization in an inpatient setting.
