Karyn Ness is a licensed professional counselor (LCPC) practicing in Illinois. Karyn's experience over the past 14 years includes working with: families of infants, toddlers and young children through home-based play therapy focusing on communication and psychosocial development; supporting parents through education and grief processing; individuals with serious mental illness in symptoms management and independent living; adults with c-PTSD, PTSD, DID; children and adolescents in group home and in-patient setting. Karyn focuses on trauma recovery, depression, anxiety, relational/intimate partner difficulties, parenting skills; adjustment concerns and attachment. Karyn's approach to therapy is dynamic- to include a variety of evidenced-based techniques and strategies from various models/theoretical frameworks all with the goal of helping the client achieve their personal goals through a good working therapeutic relationship. Particular models that Karyn finds effective with clients are : DBT, CBT, EMDR, ACT, internal family systems, narrative and existential therapies. It is Karyn's hope that the outcomes of therapy will be that clients will find relief from distressing symptoms, achieve a better image of self, engage in positive relationships and find meaning in their good and bad life experiences.
