About

I am licensed in Washington with 18 years of professional work experience. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I obtained my Master's Degree in 2005 in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) and my Bachelor's Degree from St. Martin's University in 2001. I have spent over 10 years working in the community mental health system whereby I earned both my Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS) and Mental Health Professional (MHP) designations.

I utilize a client-centered approach to therapy, emphasizing the individual strength and resources of each client, in addition to a systemic theoretical focus, which is a theoretical orientation that acknowledges the complex interaction between individuals and their World around them. I utilize a wide range of treatment approaches, choosing the most effective for the issue involved, which include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), insight-oriented therapy models, and narrative & experiential therapies. I primarily work from an experiential theoretical orientation, which emphasizes the importance of understanding, embracing, and coming to terms with one's feelings.

I work with individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families. I believe the therapeutic relationship is paramount to change. The primary areas of treatment that I focus on include depression, anxiety, stress, relationships/marriage issues, trauma, anger management, communication issues, and life transitions.

I enjoy helping others become motivated, increase positive self-esteem, and exude confidence. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
