My approach to counseling high school students for over 10 years, was based on solution-focused brief counseling, reality and cognitive-behavioral counseling theories. Services delivered included group counseling, individual counseling, classroom guidance lessons, consultation, and collaboration. By using one of the theories and services, I helped students identify and develop plans to confront issues, thoughts, and/or emotions that may interfere with their educational goals. Additionally, I prepared students for life after high school with academic planning and career advisement. As a licensed clinical mental health counselor, my approach to counseling continues to be solution focused and from a strengths-based approach. I believe the clients with whom I have the honor of working, have the answers within them and my role is to partner with them in identifying the solution so they can live more aligned and joyful lives.

My experiences have afforded me the opportunity to work closely with individuals to provide support and counseling to young people and adults in the areas of, depression, self-esteem, family/life stress, anxiety as well as emotional management. As a counselor, my desire is to support individuals as they work toward wellness.
I am currently a PhD student at North Carolina State University. My decision to pursue a doctoral degree was fueled by my desire to be as equipped as possible to best serve each person with whom I work.
