About
Karen Moore is a Licensed Social Worker, Community Health Worker, Community Health Worker Instructor and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is the owner of KVs Consultants where she prides herself in providing social services, counseling, training and academic instruction, life coaching, mentoring and professional development.
Karen’s educational background includes a BA degree in Social Work from Texas Southern University, a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida where I graduated with honors Magnum Cum Lauda. I am a Licensed Bachelorette Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Community Health Worker and Community Health Worker Instructor through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). My professional affiliation includes Chi Sigma Iota Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counselor educators, and professional counselor and the National Organization for Human Services.
My experience for the last 20 years is compiled of working with various government, private and higher learning institutions. I have helped a diverse population of individuals, families and children find healthy perceptions of themselves so they can know themselves as complete, and whole. I am especially trained in working with individuals who have experienced abuse and trauma, anxiety, and depression. I work with families and parents to help them navigate the difficult teenage years and teach them effective communication skills . Together with the clients I help them improve the relationship with themselves, their families and their friends.
Anxiety and depression can impact day to day living and interactions with others. I use a variety of methods to help clients identify the root of their issues utilizing CBT and Solution Focused Therapy interventions. I am also experienced in working with couples counseling to help couples work through challenging problems, learn each other’s love language and effective communication.
Another area of my expertise is providing counseling to individuals with substance abuse addictions. I have evidence-based successes in this area, utilizing Motivational Interviewing, CBT process and education, and group therapy to help individuals know they are not alone and interact with others with shared experiences to help them process, cope and grow. I also offer Spiritual Christian Counseling to help individuals navigate and understand the Divine Design of their purpose.
In giving back to my counseling profession I offers services as academic higher learning instructor. Teaching provides me and opportunity for continual learning and growth and affords me the opportunity to support individuals who are compassionate and dedicated about working with individuals, families and children.
My work has provided me with extensive exposure and experiences in working with a diverse population in which my goal is to channel the hope that lies within individuals to reveal their passion and purpose.
