I am an individual, couple and marriage counselor with over 40 years of counseling experience. I am married with three adult children. Fourteen of these practicing years were with a nationally recognized agency called Homebuilders, working with families in crisis in their homes. The remaining years have all been at Pearl Counseling in private practice. I also have written and presented a variety of workshops on Emotion Management, Stress Management and Parenting. Together with a colleague, I developed the initial curriculum for the Breaking-Free Parenting workshops.
My therapeutic style is warm and engaging. I often have a teaching/homework style that brings difficult issues down to a practical level. Usually specific goals are targeted to achieve greater progress through new skills learned. When appropriate, or when asked for and desired, prayer and scripture are incorporated into sessions. I also utilize the Life Span Integration method (LI) as well as cognitive skills (RET) and a wide range of life skills including coping and managing depression and anxiety, parenting , ADD , and family issues to name a few.
