About
Welcome! My name is Justina, and I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I have over 13 years of experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, residential, inpatient, outpatient, university, military & family life counseling, Central and South American immigrant emergency shelters, LGBT, marriage and family life, and addictions. I have had experience working with a broad range and severity of clinical issues. I also have experience working with anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anger management, family conflict, relationship conflicts, and complex trauma/abuse. I also have experience working with depression, intellectual/developmental disabilities, mild autism, and immigration/acculturation issues. I use a person-centered, solution-focused, holistic, multicultural, and cognitive behavioral approach in treatment, which means I meet you where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your own personal cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. I would describe my style as friendly and supportive, but I am also prepared to receive and assist you in overcoming your struggles from the get-go. We can work together at prioritizing, setting goals, and achieving them at your pace!
