About
As a Christian, helping people become healthy emotionally and mentally is my goal for counseling. I graduated with a M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisville in May 2012. I provide individual, couples, and family counseling. I have a special interest in and specialize in adults who have mood disorders and family issues. I believe my role is to provide a safe place for clients to explore their innermost thoughts and feelings, gain new insights and skills, meet collaborative therapy goals, and improve upon personal relationships.
Life, in general, presents many challenges from work, family, relationships, or trauma from the past which can lead to feelings of depression and anxiety. In addition to providing an "empathetic ear", methods such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing as well as the integration of other evidenced-based practices help the person recognize destructive patterns, practice coping skills, and explore appropriate ways to solve problems.
Couples counseling offers an opportunity for each person to voice his/her thoughts and feelings while examining how personal actions are influencing the relationship. Couples therapy focuses on communication and establishing new behavior patterns which will enhance and build a relationship rather than sabotage positive changes.
