Hello, I am Julie Pennington (previously Colfax) LMFT. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with people of all ages, levels of development, abilities, and stages of life. My focus is on you, your goals for yourself, and your family in the therapy space. My approach While I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical therapy approaches primarily, my background using a wide variety of theories and techniques allows me to fit my style to your strengths and needs. Allowing space for you to be seen and heard is always my first priority. Additional approaches I use include person-first, client and family-centered therapy, solution-focused, transactional analysis, trauma-informed principles, psycho-educational therapy, energy psychology, integrated care (also known as whole person care), change theory, motivational interviewing, and sensory management techniques. My focus The majority of the clients I see working to recover from trauma and minimize the impact or development of trauma responses (Acute Stress Disorder or PTSD), dealing with depression (bipolar or unipolar), anxiety, neuro-divergent and differently-abled, wanting to improve emotional management skills or work through substance use and addiction challenges. My communication style I believe strongly that information is vital to knowing and understanding what happens, both within therapy and in life. I will always focus on listening and hearing about you and your life, your experiences, and your goals. I believe that there is no understanding you without hearing your view of your journey. With my focus on transparency, I am very comfortable answering questions about my process, my experiences in my own healing journey, and my life, as it serves your healing and without shifting the focus away from your journey and your goals.
