About

Greetings.
My name is J. Olivia Drumm. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the states of Colorado and Montana. I use my varied and sometimes extraordinary life experiences to add wisdom to the therapeutic relationship. My career path has been non-traditional and has evolved more recently based on my being a single parent. I have over 12 years of experience in the helping professions including working in education as well as residential, outpatient, and community health centers. Like so many, I have a family history of mental health issues as well as have been on my own journey of well-being that lead me to the fields of anthropology and psychology. I have a master of science in art therapy counseling and based my thesis research on addressing similarities in art therapy with traditional healing methods. I have had the opportunity to be part of or support to patients of Native American as well as African traditional healing ceremonies. I love exploring humanity and continually find myself in awe of how complex we are.

My approach as a therapist is eclectic and person centered. I want to get to know you regarding beliefs, habits, thought processes, and personal history before building on a list of goals or treatment plan. I think of myself as your personal tool box. Ultimately, you are the one who will allow growth and accept change. Sometimes, we are in need of extra help with our biological inheritance and subsequent manifestations that take on many forms such as depression, anxiety, or mania. I believe in a multi-disciplinary approach and may refer you to other providers such as a psychiatrist, a masseuse, a practitioner of neurofeedback, a yoga or dance instructor, or a trip to a ranch with horses in addition to continuing therapy with me, if managing symptoms without external help is beyond your immediate capacity or long term ability.

Goodness of fit is crucial to having growth in therapy. I hope you will feel comfortable to say whether our dynamic is working for you. Discussion about the process will also be part of the therapeutic journey. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

-Olivia
