About
Welcome! My name is Julie and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation and a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in the state of Ohio. I have over 13 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, EAP, outpatient, partial care, residential, and transitional and permanent supportive housing. Although that seems like a lot, it simply means that I have had experience working with a broad range of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with individuals, couples, and families to address issues such as anxiety, mood disorders, addictions, perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, and family/relationship conflicts.
I use a person-centered, holistic, multicultural, and trauma-informed approach in counseling. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs, while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I use evidence-based techniques including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. I would describe my style as warm, empathetic, and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Collaboration is important, together we can work on establishing concrete goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems. It can be challenging to ask for help and I commend you for taking the necessary steps towards change. I am looking forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Julie
