I’m Julia Hall, LMSW and practicing psychotherapist in Brooklyn. I specialize in PTSD, OCD and anxiety disorders but am capable of treating a wide range of issues as there is often overlap. I work with a comfort dog, Honey who provides a wonderfully comforting and soothing presence as she snuggles up to her patients for pets and love. I tend to begin by getting to know you, what brought you to therapy and what potential goals you have for therapy in order for us to have a collaborative approach and relationship. I often integrate cognitive behavior tools into the work to help identify problematic patterns in life as well as ways to interrupt these patterns and make change. Other approaches I often include over time are providing psycho-education and mindfulness practices. I aim to be warm, empathic and direct with my patients. A little about my background, I’ve been in the field for 7 years and it’s been a journey. I began my career in the shelter system of NYC working with adults who where chronically street homeless and persistently mentally ill. I got my feet wet and wide array of experience treating the biggest, toughest problems all while getting great education and training. Currently I’m in private practice, I still treat a wide array of issues however my approach is more focused.
