I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi with over 9 years of experience working with families and individuals that are facing chronic and terminal illness, end of life challenges, grief, adjustment issues, anxiety, and depression.
My experience is varied, as I have worked in different settings, including individual, group and family dynamics. My approach is to offer the client a safe environment to tell their story, help them identify their biggest concerns and then work together to develop goals and solutions that will help them achieve the life they are wanting. I enjoy hearing different life experiences and understanding how a person has come to be who they are today. I also like to focus on the future and developing steps and coping mechanisms to reach personal goals. Working with chronic illness and end of life clients, and helping others cope with new and unexpected phases of life has become a strong skill set. A part of that includes grief work, which is not limited to just the death of a loved one, but the death of identity, death of a relationship, or the death of a dream, etc. Needing to adjust to the changes of life can arise in so many different ways, and understanding that can help a person see the bigger picture.
In my counseling style, I aim to be thoughtful and gentle, yet constructively direct. I want to offer insight and perspective while affirming a client's concerns and viewpoints. No two people react to an experience the same, and my goal is to help others find peace, acceptance and healing. If you are having a hard time on this journey of life, I am here to help.
