About

Welcome! So your path has brought you here to Find A Therapist, it's likely you are looking for some assistance in dealing with something in your life or your current situation and hope to find a person that can offer that assistance. Perhaps you have found that person right here!

My name is Juanita J. Rinas, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon; I was previously licensed and practiced in Michigan before moving to the beautiful state of Oregon. I began my career working in addictions counseling, and moved on to community mental health and helping persons with mental illness and addictions, and those in crisis and having major adjustment and coping challenges at various stages of their lives. I spent time also in private practice at a distance and in a psychiatrist's office, where many of the people I treated were facing major life transitions, new diagnoses, work related and health conditions that caused them to seek some therapy in combination with medications.

My education began in Toledo, OH with a business degree focusing on Human Resources and career management, and then I went on to get my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling degree at Bowling Green State University, also in Ohio. From there I pursued doctoral level education at what was then known as The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and is now Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA, where I completed all coursework and nearly finished my dissertation , so ended up ABD (all but dissertation) until I was able to transfer to a different institution. My focus throughout my education has been with equity and multiculturalism, with a transpersonal focus as my education advanced, looking beyond just individual wants and needs, to the betterment of the world through the process of self development and growth in ways that benefit not just the individual, but all with whom we come into contact.

The methods I use will vary because what is most important is what actually works for you. I take a very person centered approach, if there are certain techniques that work well for you, my approach will be tailored to fit your needs. It is most important to understand that it takes hard work to improve and change, I am here to guide you through that work, support you, offer insight, suggestions, tools, and guidance to you as you do the work. Only you can choose to change you! Open, honest communication between us will be the key. I look forward to working with you!
